●Background / Topic

Creating spaces that spark innovation toward the future

Osaka Sealing Printing (OSP) is a leading company in the development, design, manufacturing, and sales of seals and labels for a wide variety of products, celebrating its 95th anniversary in February 2022 and opening a new four-story “Innovation Center” the previous August with an eye toward the future.
Daishinsha Delight was in charge of the conceptual makeup, flow line planning, and interior design of the co-creation space that opened on the first floor of the Innovation Center. We also proposed and produced the “O-SPIRAL” naming, logo design, videos, and other content.

When we were first approached, we were asked if we could produce a video to be shown in the co-creation space; this was the first time we had worked with OSP, and they had seen a video we had produced for another client and had high expectations. We and another company decided to participate in a two-company competition, but upon hearing more details, we realized that there was room to think about the space design, which led to our proposal and approach this time.

●Strategic Measures

Unify proposals under the concept of “SPIRAL” with a single world view.

OSP has continued to take on pioneering challenges, such as developing Japan’s first peel-off seal and obtaining a patent for it. The company wanted the space on the first floor of the Innovation Center to be an open innovation space where ideas for the future are generated through communication with stakeholders, including customers, rather than just a showroom for displaying its own products. They also wanted to use the space for human resource development as an in-house training facility and to contribute to the local community as a place where elementary and junior high school students can learn outside of school.

We have created the concept of “SPIRAL” based on the image of a DNA structure, which is a combination of the spiral of “evolution” moving upward and the spiral of “deepening” moving downward. The content of OSP’s future initiatives was divided into three zones and incorporated into a large spiral to create a flow line that “deepens understanding and experience every time you visit”. The spiral shape allows for an increase in the effective area for the visitor’s experience, even in a limited space, and has the advantage of making it easier to add new content in the future.
In addition, we proposed a total solution that included videos to be played in the center of the spiral, graphics on the floor, and content that would enhance the customer experience through the use of digital technology. All content, including the floor’s naming “O-SPIRAL,” was created with a consistent worldview.

●Results

The framework of the proposal is realized as it is. A presentation space that exceeds expectations

After the presentation, we received a positive news that Daishinsha Delight had been selected as OSP’s partner for the project. We were able to receive comments on the content of our proposal, which included many more tricks than they had expected, as well as an evaluation of our commitment to the project as a partner.
The presentation outline was realized as it was, and our proposed genderless character also played an active role as an attendant in the museum. The presentation space was completed in a way that exceeded expectations.
The reason for this proposal was that they saw a video we produced, and now that they are aware of our comprehensive capabilities to handle everything from space design to graphics and tool production, we have already begun talking about our next project. We look forward to supporting OSP’s efforts to create “new value for the future” for many years to come.
